Join Brown & Barron In Supporting Meals On Wheels To Feed The Elderly

At Brown & Barron, LLC, we passionately support Meals on Wheels, because we want to help our older neighbors live full, healthy lives in the homes they love – and we are now increasing our contribution as both donors and as volunteers. We are asking all our Brown & Barron family and friends to join us in helping this noble and worthy cause, which helps feed about 2.4 million older Americans each year.

Right now, your help is more important than ever.

Why Donate to Meals on Wheels?

The global pandemic and its quarantine requirement have been a double whammy for Meals on Wheels. More seniors are self-isolating, creating an increased demand for meals. According to theWashington Post, the demand for meals has significantly increased in the past month alone. Meanwhile, health concerns have greatly reduced the number of volunteers.

According to Stephanie Archer-Smith, Executive Director of MoW in Central Maryland: “We’ve had an increased demand for bulk frozen meals, we’ve started to get more calls for people who are choosing to self-isolate and wouldn’t normally be homebound.”

Meals on Wheels has also taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of their employees and volunteers, and especially the people they serve, many of whom are elderly and susceptible to the worst outcomes of COVID-19 infection. In addition to standard practices (e.g., hand-washing and symptom checking) Meals on Wheels has temporarily discontinued in-home visits and has switched to a frozen food model to reduce the chance of community contact.

Many of us have been spared the worst consequences of the pandemic. In fact, many of us have found ourselves with a maddening abundance of free time. The Meals on Wheels program is a brilliant way to harness that time, capture a new sense of fulfillment, and share your blessings directly with your neighbors who need it most. Whether you volunteer or donate, it’s an easy way to make a huge difference in someone’s life.

At Brown & Barron, we encourage you to give back in whatever way possible right now. Below are a few easy ways you can make a difference:
